Key Areas of Expertise: Market Research – Project Management - Process Evaluation
Patricia has been working in the multidisciplinary space of energy and environment for over a decade and has just completed leading a process evaluation of California's Education, Awareness and Outreach Programs for the state's major IOUs and Energy and Public Utilities Commissions. The programs focused on stimulating consumer activity and awareness in the area of demand response and energy efficiency. The outreach included joint marketing approaches with local communities and trade groups to combined EE/DR audits. The target audiences of the outreach efforts ranged from school children to whole cities, and small businesses to rural water systems. Patricia also recently completed evaluating a youth outreach program in Berkeley California that employed a community based social marketing approach to reach prospective clients.
Patricia has experience conducting focus groups for Summit Blue and leading roundtables and discussions at energy manager's roundtables, and industrial summits, from her work with E Source. While at E Source Patricia launched two syndicated research services, including the industrial mid-market service. As manager of this service she advised utilities, ESCOs, NGOs and equipment manufacturers, throughout the U.S. and Canada on how to do business with this industrial customer class. Patricia's work focused on how to build rapport with industrial groups using a more complete understanding of the business challenges faced by these market segments. She prepared several in depth reports on industrial energy use and demographics, energy contracts for industrials, and peak load management for mid-market industrials. Together with the Energy Center of Wisconsin she created a an interactive web data base that provided detailed resources, such as county level market demographics, energy benchmarking, environmental issues, industry hot buttons and web resources for over 20 industrial market segments. Patricia began her career as a geologist working on environmental and water compliance issues with small water utilities, and commercial and industrial customers in New Mexico and California. Prior to working for E Source, Patricia was Editor-in-Chief of the Colorado Journal of International Environmental Law and Policy and a planning commissioner in Louisville Colorado She earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her B.S. from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
